Give Yourself the Gift of a Check-In
We receive but what we give.
~ Samuel Taylor Cole
Hello Friends!
As always, we have many classes taking place in the Yellow Room. Please see our listing for the week at the bottom of this email. Don’t forget, Terry Talbot offers yoga every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9AM. And Jeffrey Turre is still coming in each week to teach his amazing Qi Gong class on Tuesdays at 5PM!
Today, we want to talk with you about the importance of checking-in with ourselves throughout the day. With all that goes on in life that draws our attention, it can be very easy to become distracted from ourselves.
When our focus is continually drawn to our external world, we lose touch with our own feelings and values. As we shift our focus towards our inner experience of life, we discover our true reaction to our outer stimuli. What are we feeling? What’s important to us in this moment and do we have clarity about what is going on inside us, or do we need to take some time for some extended self-inquiry?
Checking-in with ourselves only takes a little time and effort – and it is oh, so worth it. If you haven’t been in the habit of going inside and connecting with YOU, here are four questions to ask yourself.
Before you begin the questions, stop all activity and remove as many distractions as possible.
What am I feeling in this moment?
What thoughts are coming to the surface of my mind?
What behaviors do I engage in that are incongruent with my values and beliefs?
How am I talking to myself today?
These four questions will give you a glimpse of what truly needs your attention as well as where you may need a little gentleness and compassion.
If you would like to explore these questions more deeply, we are available for personal coaching sessions either in person or via Zoom.
Lots of love to you,
Annette and Ada
