I Finally Enjoy Creating Our Websites
Happy Monday!
Annette and I hope you are all doing well and are enjoying these first days of summer. Hopefully, you are staying cool!
This week, I want to invite you to visit our website - especially if you haven’t seen it in a while. We have made some changes and hopefully, you will find it easier to navigate. We have many courses included on our Courses page and soon we will be announcing which courses we will be offering later this summer and in the fall. By the way – if you have an area in your life that is causing you to struggle and you would be interested in attending a course dedicated to that particular issue, please email us and let us know. During July, we will be making course creation decisions, and we do value your input.
Whenever we revamp our website, the process reminds me of all the various versions and iterations Annette and I have had of our website over the years, from our first one to the one we are sharing with you today. I have created all of our websites and each one had its own personality and represented where we were at the time on our coaching journey.
In all honesty, when we first began our coaching practice, I added a great deal of stress to my website creation process because I wanted everything to be perfect. I wanted the rounded corners to be EXACTLY the same on every page. I needed the menus to be in the EXACT right place. Rather than allowing the creative process to flow, I tried to make everything flawless - my idea of flawless - down to the pixel. I spent days and days striving for perfection!
I recognize now that, back in the beginning, I was the living definition of the phrase “trying too hard.” I gave those websites everything I had. I even stepped into the unhealthy territory of thinking that our website not only represented our coaching practice but me personally. If it wasn’t perfect, there wasn’t just something wrong with the website, there was something wrong with me.
Fortunately, I’ve learned a lot since those early days!
Although I haven’t relaxed my technical standards and still give everything I do everything I’ve got, what I do differently now is that I do not allow the outcome to define me. I leave everything I have on the field, so to speak, and accept myself and our website for where I am today. And I must say, today, I experience lots of joy when I am creating our website. I believe this is because of everything I’ve learned through the years AND because I am making our website for dear friends and clients like you!
Wishing you a beautiful week,
Ada
