Being Our Best Selves Takes Our Best Work

Hello Everyone -

It’s Monday, and I’m excited. Let’s choose to make this week a great one!

One of the reasons I’m excited is that last weekend, Annette and I planned out all the different courses we will be taking this year as we continue our own personal development journeys and growth. These courses will help us with our primary goal of being the best coaches and teachers we can be.

We are looking forward to carving out time to study and participate in each course because doing so reflects our belief that personal development never ends. It’s a lifelong process. No matter how well life is going, even if it’s the best it’s ever been, there is always something more we can learn, always something more we can do to be of service to others, more tools to add to our toolbox.

For instance, over the last three years or so, I have created a great morning routine that helps me start each day off on the right foot. I researched, took some classes on meditation and mindfulness, tried what seems like a zillion different yoga teachers, and utilized my health coaching training. However, I have struggled at night when it is time to wind down.

Since last fall, I have concentrated on developing a nightly routine that will help me process the events of my day and come to a place of stillness and calm before I sleep. I have experimented with various practices, read articles, researched relevant apps and other tools, and can finally say that I am now going to sleep quicker and sleeping better. And the best part, I feel very refreshed each morning.

Personal development is all about continually doing our healing work, learning ways to better support ourselves, and challenging ourselves even when no one else is looking. In short, it’s about finding the fire in our own hearts and growing for our own benefit so each day we can show up as the best version of ourselves for that day.

Of course, our best is relative and will fluctuate; however, nothing feels better than looking back and realizing that today’s best is a place we never thought we would know.

Here’s to doing our work,
Ada
